This black lace shirt is another item that landed itself in fashion purgatory. I purchased it from Anthropologie during college (I usually find great gems in their overflowing sale sections), but whenever I tried to make it work I looked in the mirror and was totally spooked. This shirt is meant to be worn with the buttons in the front, but when I tried to wear it that way it didn't feel quite me. But I loved the idea of a simple black lace top and didn't want this classic piece to go unworn.  I decided to try the shirt on backwards, and instantly felt like a bad witch. It still fit perfectly and now the buttons create a dainty detail along the back.   These black silk pants are one of my favorite closet staples. Not only can they easily be dressed up or down, they are so comfortable that I feel like I'm wearing pajamas. This wide-brim hat pulls the whole look together, and adds that final sense of spook. I'm a major fan of fall hats (wide-brim, beanie, baseball...I don't discriminate) and think they're a perfect way to accessorize a look and cover-up a bad hair day. These pointy black pumps are a closet classic, and I'd like to think the wicked witch would approve.
Want to take this ensemble from trendy to treaty? A broomstick would complete the look.
So the moral of this Halloween tale is to try an item every witch way, before you throw it away.   Happy (and spooky) Halloween to all :)   Photography by Alexa Drew Photography Top: Only Hearts (similar here  and here ) / Pants: Aritzia (similar here    and here ) / Shoes: Zara (similar here  and here ) / Hat: Forever21 (similar here , here ,  and here )
