We shot this look in the South Street Seaport, which turned out to be a perfect location with the clear blue sky serving as our backdrop.

The trick for breaking this "fashion rule" is pairing your white pieces with some warmer hued neutrals, like cream, greige (gray/beige, it's a thing) or gem tones like forrest green or burgundy. Adding in these other colors makes the overall look feel more seasonally appropriate, while remaining badass (you're still breaking a rule!)   I love this off-white sweater, but in the colder months the shade totally washes me out. I'm not the tannest girl on the block if you can't tell ;) So in the winter I love layering it with rich colors like this burgundy turtleneck. It adds contrast between the sweater and my spray-tan needing skin, plus it adds a layer of warmth.   This jacket is a recent score from the annual Zara sale. If you haven't checked it out yet, run don't walk! Their sales are where I pick up many of my favorite pieces at a fraction of the cost. A good friend alerted me that this jacket was on sale and I knew it was the perfect light colored piece to add to my winter wardrobe. The lining is all Faux yet it's still warm enough to wear on a chilly winter day. I also think it looks more expensive than the price tag ($49!) The monogrammed clutch was a gift from one of my closest friends when she asked me to be one of her maids of honor, so not only is it personal, it's also meaningful.
I also wanted to show you a close up of these earrings, since adding gold accessories is another way to winter-fy your white. I discovered this pair though Rocksbox , an unlimited jewelry rental service. When it came time to send them back I just couldn't part, so these babies went from foster to adoption and are now officially mine.
